Chapter V: Twin Nobles

He awakened.

"Where am I? What is this place?", he thought. Long empty plains...as far as the eye could see...Vegita got up, trying to pick up any signs of life in the surrounding area.

Nothing.

No life, no ki whatsoever...He left the ground, still probing the region. Soon he saw someone in the distance...but in this person he felt no ki...Regardless, he went to catch up with this person and the closer he got, the more familiar the silhouette appeared to be...

Strangely enough, this person looked exactly like Vegita.

Vegita: "What!? Don�t you dare insult me or you�ll regret it !"

Person: "I�ll be the first to make you pay! HA!"

The two warriors dashed at each other, ready for battle. They both punched their other selves simultaneously, and an enormous flash of light surrounded them...

Vegita: "Is this one of your tricks-----what the---?"

The brilliant light dissipated...and Vegita stood up.

Alone.

The other one was gone...and Vegita well knew where he was...

He smiled and took off.

The Time Machine suddenly appeared in the hidden headquarters of Freedom Army. After a few seconds, the main hatch opened and Vulcan got out, followed by his soldiers and the four newcomers.

She dashed into one of the dimly lit corridors of the underground complex. The place looked like it had been abandonned long ago. Boxes and crates were everywhere and many lights flickered constantly due to a lack of maintenance. There were a few people walking or dashing through the corridors, exchanging reports, comments and even a few jokes. A beautiful girl appeared from the same corridor Gale had entered and came to Vulcan. She made a salute and spoke.

Vulcan: "Raven, fetch Gale and meet us in the conference room."

Raven: "At once, Gen'ral." He dashed into the same corridor where Gale had gone. Vulcan then turned toward Star.

Vulcan: "Star, go get Dandelion and meet us in the conference room as well. She will report on the news. (He turned to the other girl) Lilac, instead of briefing us, I would like you to show our guests around and assign them some quarters.

Girl: "But sir, I am in charge of rep---" She saw a change on Vulcan�s face, a strange look and smile that seemed to say "...Please..." ...as if he was politely begging her to do as he ordered...Puzzled, she dropped the case.

Girl: "Aye, sir."

Vulcan: "Good."

Vulcan (turning toward the Z-senshi): "Later, then." He walked away, leaving the Z senshi with the girl. She turned toward them.

Girl: "Well, hello. My name is Lilac and I am the Lieutenant of Freedom Army."

Goku: "I�m Son Goku!"

Gohan: "I am Son Gohan. This is my brother Goten and this is Oob."

Lilac: "Good. I thought there would be more, but we will treasure any help we can get. Come, follow me."

She went toward one of the corridors and the Z-senshi, looking at each other, followed her.

Gohan: "How do they find you?" As they were walking, Gohan noticed how graceful Lilac was. She was walking, moving, even talking with the rhythm of a dancer, which gave her a feeling of nobility and class while her voice was smooth enough to make anyone comfortable around her. Her beauty, as well, was as stunning as her grace.

Lilac: "They conduct extensive searches with their Scouters, but due to the Scouters� limited range, it takes them quite some time to detect and positively identify us." She opened a door that lead to what seemed to be a bar of some sort. About a dozen people were sitting at the tables, talking and drinking, some seemingly having a better time than others.

Lilac: "This is the Tavern, where we all meet to relax a bit. Considering the stress affecting us, this is the right place to come to to lower the pressure, if you know what I mean." She lead them in, some paying attention to the newcomers, some ignoring them.

Lilac: "Please, have a seat." She went and sat down with two people at a rather large table.

Lilac: "Hi, fellows. The new recruits have arrived. Son Goku, Gohan, Goten and Oob." She turned toward the Z-senshi.

Lilac: "These two are Lady Lor and DJ, some of our most promissing warriors." She then turned back to her two friends.

Lilac: "Hey...why aren�t you in training?"

DJ: "Well, Lieutenant, the other Flowers are already inside."

Lilac: "Only two people in the room! There sure is room in there for four people so you better get up and go, already! Some people are dying for a workout and you�re wasting their time!" Looking at eachother, the man and woman obeyed and went away to the training room.

Lilac: "...promissing warriors..." She sighed. Gohan who had sat down in front of her, decided to speak.

Gohan: "Lieutenant, who are those two "Flowers" ?"

Lilac (with a smile back on her face): "They�re Snapdragon and Wolfsbane, my sisters."

Goten: "Your sisters ?"

Lilac: "Well, not really, as we all just swore to be sisters forever. There are four of us: Snapdragon, Wolfsbane, Dandelion and myself. A year ago, we were 5..." Suddenly, her expression changed to deep sadness, as her eyes looked down at the table itself.

Goten: "What...happened...?"

Lilac: "Rosebud was the youngest of us 5...She was so enthusiastic, eager for life, justice and peace...she was so young...Then suddenly it all ended. She was killed cruelly by the androids...I�ll always remember the look of satisfaction... evil...and pure cruelty in that Android�s eyes...Sleipnir..."

Gohan: "How old was she?"

Lilac: "15...We all want to avenge her, especially us Flowers, so that�s why Sleipnir is at the top of our "Most Wanted" list along with the fact that he�s the best warrior in the Main Board�s army... Someday I�ll have his head and proudly display it in my quarters, that I swear!!!"

Goku: "A "Most Wanted" list?"

Lilac (regaining her composure): "Yes." She got up and walked up to a black electronic board hung on the wall. On it were listed several names, obviously androids, and beside each name was a number. The Z-senshi all followed her to the board.

Goten: "What are those numbers for, Lilac?"

Lilac: "They�re the number of kills every Android has done." Sleipnir was at the top of the list with 14 kills. Vampire was second with 10, and Jinn was third with 7.

Lilac: "Everyone of our soldiers is important because we are so few, that�s why every kill is so important and devastating to us. Sleipnir is the most horrible monster I�ve ever seen. He kills for pleasure whenever he has the chance and shows absolutely no mercy in battle. When he�s with his counterpart Pegasus, he�s unstoppable."

Goku: "Couldn�t Vulcan defeat him?"

Lilac: "I�m...not sure. The occasion never offered itself."

Goku: "And who is this Vampire ?"

Lilac: "Well, we haven�t updated the board since last week. General Vulcan finally destroyed him one on one! What a fight! The General had a personnal grudge against him, so it really made him so much more powerful."

Gohan: "You seem to have great confidence in him..."

Lilac: "Yes. He�s our inspiration. The ray of light through this dark night..." Her eyes seemed to get lost for a second.

Lilac: "Well, we can now sit down and maybe you can tell me about yourselves...?"

Goku: "Of course!"

Gohan (sitting down): "Beforehand, I would like to know...Who are Raven and Gale? They clearly aren�t human..."

Lilac (sitting back down): "They�re weird. They say they came from another planet... They had to learn our language and they�re still having trouble handling it. They�re crude, but strong and loyal...well, at least Raven is. Gale always seems to want to do it her way and that often gets her in trouble. Raven is more like the brave loyal warrior type, but loses it when he�s insulted or when Gale is in danger. They always loved eachother, no one knows why."

Goten: "And you, Lilac? Is there love in your life?"

Lilac: "I�m afraid not. You see, there is so much to do, so many lives to care for that I don�t have time for that."

Gohan: "Sorry to change the subject, but I have another question."

Lilac: "Yes?"

Gohan: "Star told us about a Book. Can you tell me about it?"

Lilac: "The Book? Well, Vulcan and Star found it long ago. It told them in an imaginative fashion the events past and the ones to come. Although not all has been understood, most of what the Book says is true. It told of a heartless beast that would come and enslave the world...What we see today is that this beast is the Main Board. We have to stop it."

Gohan: "An interesting Book... Could I consult it?"

Lilac: "You will have to ask Vulcan. I�m pretty sure he will agree. Vulcan has studied the Book more than anyone. It told him the location of the Time Machine. It also tells of many ways to master the inner self and Vulcan has mastered these strange techniques. Sometimes, they look like magic, but Vulcan tells us that just by the power of the mind can he alter the surroundings, control fire and water, create illusions and heal the wounded. He�s incredible."

Lilac: "He is..."

Raven: "Oh yeah...Congrats on trashin� Vampire las� week, Gen'ral!"

Vulcan: "That one was personal! Simon was my closest friend. I HAD to avenge him ! It�s just such a pity he was killed..." The briefing had ended, and Vulcan and Raven were hurrying through the corridors.

Raven: "But what c'n we do?"

Vulcan: "We have to keep training and become stronger. The more Androids, the more chance we have of being found and the more chance we have of dying without restauring peace! The faster we work, the better!"

Raven: "Do ya think those Legends o� the Past c'n help us?"

Vulcan: "Maybe...Son Goku seems to be a priceless element...an infinite potential means all..."

Vulcan: "...or nothing!"

Raven: "The others look pretty strong too...I think we jus' hit the jackpot."

Vulcan: "I do not know...We will see..."

Raven: "..."

Raven: "Gen'ral, why did ya send Lilac away?"

Vulcan: "I...it is of no importance."

Raven: "I�m just sayin� that ya look weird �round her...like uneasy..."

Vulcan (suddenly stopping): "What do you mean?"

Raven: "Most people can�t see it I think..."

Vulcan: "What?"

Raven: "I say ya like her..."

Vulcan: "I do not."

Raven: "Yah, ya do, buddy!"

Vulcan: "...bu...buddy?"

Raven: "�Tween ya and I, she look great, don�t she?"

Vulcan: "You really should work on your vocabulary."

Raven: "That�s not the point!"

Vulcan: "...In all honesty and impartiality...she does."

Raven: "There ya go! I knew it all �long!"

Vulcan: "Do not spread false rumors!"

Raven: "Why don�t ya go talk ta her?"

Vulcan: "..."

Raven: "Ya shy?"

Vulcan: "No...that is not it. It would..."

Raven: "...Yah?"

Vulcan: "...interfere with my position."

Raven: "Ohhh....Ya disappoint me, Gen�ral ..."

Vulcan: "Why? What can she bring me? Love? This is not a time made for love, it is a time made for war, Raven!"

Raven: "Why don�t ya look at Gale �n I, then?"

Vulcan: "You? I don�t even understand how you two can still be together."

Raven: "I like her style...and she likes my attitude."

Vulcan: "Maybe...but who cares? What if she doesn�t like me? She is my Lieutenant, fifth stongest warrior in our army, I cannot let feelings ruin our present relationship. The effectiveness of our organization can only be maintained if we keep friendly contacts between each other! If something went wrong between the two of us---"

Raven (cutting in): "What if she does like ya?"

Vulcan: "..." Suddenly, a loud alarm resounded, and Vulcan took a comlink on the wall.

Vulcan: "What is it?"

Voice: "This is Scout Two, sir. I am rejoining Scout One who reported that Sleipnir and Pegasus are in the vicinity, but two other unidentified people are with them."

Vulcan: "Are they androids?"

Voice: "No, sir, unless there is dissenssion between the android troops."

Vulcan: "Why?"

Voice: "They seem to be facing eachother, ready to fight."

Vulcan: "What do the other two look like?"

Voice: "Well, one has a long black cape and blond hair and the other is dressed in blue and has golden hair."

Vulcan (eyes widening): "Golden hair, you say?"

Voice: "Yes, he may be a Super Saiyajin too, sir and...Sir, they are now within range of our Scouters and..."

Vulcan: "Yes, what?"

Voice: "Oh my god, sir...the one...the one with golden hair, sir..."

Vulcan: "Yes?"

Voice: "His power level is at 2010!!!!"

Vulcan: "...Keep me informed!" He then pushed a button on the comlink�s keypad.

Vulcan: "Control room, get a visual of Scout One and Two�s position. I�m on my way!"

Raven: "Ya like 'er! Ya like 'er! Ya like 'er!"

Vulcan: "Shut up and come along."

Outside

Android #1: "You two are unregistered units. Prepare to be registered."

Vegita: "Registered? What the hell �re you talking about?"

Android #2: "Surrender peacefully or we will be forced to kill you."

Vegita: "In your dreams..."

Android #2: "Do not dare insult the Main Board�s representants!"

Android #1: "Pegasus, his power level is far superior to anything we have ever seen, be careful..."

Android #2 (Pegasus): "Yeah, no problem. Come on, goldie, show me what you�ve got!"

Vegita grinned. Without a single word, he dashed at Pegasus hammered him with a thousand fists, and spin-kicked his head off.

Sleipnir: "These...are...unusual circomstances...we will meet again!" He shot fireballs at Vegita and his partner�s eyes to create a smokescreen and as it dissipated, Sleipnir had gone.

Vegita: "Ha ha ha , you can�t run!" Vegita tried to pick up his opponent�s ki...to no avail.

Caped Man: "It�s no use. You can�t detect ki in this world."

Vegita (turning toward him): "How come?"

Caped Man: "It is unknown." Vegita bent down and picked up Pegasus� head on the ground. He smiled and crushed the head with his own hand. He turned back to his companion.

Vegita: "Anyway, if we find those rebels you�re talking about, they�d better have an explanation!"
