Chapter VII: Treacherous Lies

Freedom Army HQ, Year Unknown

DJ and Lady Lor entered the Tavern. There were only three people inside, one of them being one of the newly found allies, Pioneer. The young blond man was sitting quietly alone at a table, looking at the wall, lost in his thoughts.

DJ: "Maybe. Let's go talk to him." They went towards his table and Lor was the first to speak.

Lady Lor(to Pioneer): "Excuse me, can we join you?" Pioneer suddenly returned to reality and looked up at them.

Pioneer: "No. I'd like to be alone."

Lady Lor(sitting in front of him): "But why?" DJ followed her lead and sat down next to her.

Pioneer: "None of your business, kids."

"He doesn't look much older than we are.", Lor thought.

Pioneer: "I'm just waiting for some action."

DJ: "Action?"

Pioneer: "I'm waiting for a fight!"

Lady Lor: "Then why don't we go to the training room? We could at least practice over there. "

Pioneer: "Right before the big one?"

DJ: "The big one?"

Pioneer: "The fight against the androids, of course."

Lady Lor: "So soon?"

Pioneer: "Ha! You're here talking to me, asking for a workout, and you don't even know about what's going on? You're so weak anyway, what good would you be out there... "

Lady Lor: "Why you...! Who do you think you are? We're fighting for a just cause here, and if I have to die to make it happen I will!"

DJ: "Why are you here with us if you have so little hope?"

Pioneer: "I'm here...because."

Lady Lor: "Because what?"

Pioneer got up and slapped the young lady in the face so hard she landed three tables away from them. DJ dashed to her assistance and took her in his arms. The other two warriors in the room rose to their feet.

Lady Lor: "I...will...be..."

DJ: "You fuckin' bastard!" Pioneer got up, walked up to him and grinned evily.

Pioneer: "See what I mean?" He walked away and left the room under the angered looks of everyone present.

Vulcan and Gohan were walking through the corridors of HQ.

Vulcan: "Yes. It has been written by a visionary many years ago. How many is difficult to estimate." said he, as they went towards his quarters.

Gohan: "And how did you find it?"

Vulcan: "Star and I found it in an old cave about thirteen years ago. It seemed very old, but the pages had remained essentially intact throughout the years."

Gohan: "And this Book reveals the future."

Vulcan: "Yes. Or so it seems. It is written in an enigmatic and imaginative way. You have to interpret its words and sentences."

Gohan: "Who wrote it?"

Vulcan: "It was written by a martial artist. Obviously, he knew about what would happen to the world, and so he wrote it." As they had reached Vulcan's quarters, he opened the door, went inside and returned with the fabled Book, which he handed to Gohan.

Vulcan: "There. Be sure to take great care of it. It is...important."

Gohan: "I believe I understand."

Vulcan: "No! You do not! But you will if you read it." After a brief moment, Gohan nodded and both of them went their separate ways.

Vulcan picked up the comlink on the wall, which was emitting his own personal emergency code.

Voice: "Tiz Raven, Gen'ral at the Command Center. We just detected an unidentified transmission comin' from our own base!"

Vulcan: "What does it say?"

Raven: "We dunno, but it's aimed at Nirg, sir!"

Vulcan: "The Main Board's home city?! From where in the base is the signal coming from?"

Raven: "Section B2, Gen'ral!"

Vulcan: "Sound the alarm! There's a traitor inside the base!" As the alarm resounded in the entire complex, Vulcan hurried toward section B2.

Vulcan (to himself): "One will betray."

Lady Lor: "Yes, I'll be fine, even if he did hit me with a pretty good blow..."

Warrior1: "Wasn't he one of the guys who joined us yesterday?"

DJ: "Yes, but I don't think I really wanna see him with us." At this moment, the alarm resounded throughout the Tavern.

Lady Lor: "The alarm? What's going on?" They then heard Commander Raven on the universal comlink channel.

Voice (Raven): "Ta all Freedom Army person'l, a traitor's been discovered 'mong us! He's in section B2! Get'm ya hear???"

DJ: "A traitor!?"

Lady Lor: "Let's go."

DJ: "But..."

Lady Lor: "I'm okay, let's go!" She grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the Tavern, toward section B2.

Lady Lor: "It's not very far from us, I think I know who our spy is and he won't get away with it!"

After a few seconds, DJ and Lady Lor reached section B2, a "warehouse" section of the complex. There, they saw only one man: Pioneer.

Pioneer: "Well well, it seems the weaklings are not so weak after all! Or maybe they're just trying to prove it to themselves?" said he, grinning widely.

Pioneer: "Let's just make sure they learn the truth before they begin to believe in a lie!"

He jumped in the air, using the fact that the ceiling was higher, allowing him to gain a moment of surprise. He fired a few fireballs at the two newcommers who had trouble dodging them. Landing in front of the two, Pioneer prepared a huge blast which he released, thus blowing away both Lady Lor and DJ. At that moment, the two other Freedom Army warriors who were in the tavern arrived.

Warrior2: "The traitor!"

Warrior1: "It's him!"

Pioneer: "Do not waste time pondering what to do now, weaklings! I'll decide for you!" And he blasted the two out of the warehouse and the impact made them lose consciousness. At the same time the ceiling blew up in a huge explosion. Another warrior, obviously an Android, was standing in the newly made opening.

Android (smiling): "Pioneer!"

Pioneer (to the Android): "Hey there, Viking!"

Pioneer (to Lady Lor and DJ): "Well it seems my ride is here already, no more time for fun! It will be a pleasure to torch you again someday!" Saying so, he levitated through the opening in the ceiling and disappeared. Vulcan then reached the warehouse.

Vulcan: "DJ! Lor!"

Lor: "...General!" He went to them both.

Lor (looking outside the door): "How are...?"

Star was in the door's opening, tending to the wounded ones. She looked up at Vulcan and shook her head.

Vulcan: "..."

Lady Lor: "Bastard!"

Vulcan: "Are you two alright?"

DJ: "We were able to avoid some of the blasts. Our...collegues could not..."

Vulcan: "Who was it?"

Lady Lor: "Pioneer."

Vulcan: "I should've known!"

Star (joining them): "How could you?"

Vulcan: "We must go after them!"

Lady Lor: "They've probably gone too far already, sir." A few more warriors appreared in the door's opening, with them the Z-senshi.

Vulcan: "Son Goten-san! Do you think you are fast enough to catch the spy?"

Goten: "Me? They've been gone for...?"

Lady Lor: "...about 30 seconds."

Goten: "I don't think so...but Vegita-san could, I think."

Vulcan: "Where is he?"

Trunks: "He's...uh...sleeping in his quarters..."

Gohan: "What!? In the middle of an emergency like this!?"

Trunks: "Well..."

Vulcan: "Not enough time to wake him now. That spy has gotten away. They now know much about us. I call a meeting of the senior staff now."

Freedom Army Head Quarters, Year Unknown

Goten: "The Androids could attack any second!"

Vegita: "Then, let them come!" The Z-senshi had assembled in the Tavern. It seems other Freedom army warriors were joining them.

Dandelion: "Let our leaders make plans. Without plans, an attack against the Androids would prove unsuccessful."

Snapdragon: "You think it's an attack they're planning?"

Dandelion: "Has to be. We just tripled our firepower with these warriors from the past. If the Androids learn this, they will probably try to increase their numbers instead of attacking us so that they may outnumber us in a future battle and eventually destroy us."

Vegita: "You know nothing, girl! I am invincible! Let them come, I say!" He was confortably leaning on his chair, resting his head on his arms with his eyes closed and a confident smile up his face.

Dandelion: "..."

Dandelion: "I AM right."

Vegita: "Tch..." The comlink then announced an immediate general assembly in the cargo hold. All got up and left the Tavern, Vegita did so as well, but reluctantly.

Goku: "Don't be over confident, Vegita."

Vegita: "You shut up, Kakarotto. I will prove to you Tomorrow what I have said Today."

As all gathered in the cargo hold, the largest room in the underground complex, Vulcan stood on a pile of crates along with his trusted officers, Star, Raven, Gale and Lilac. He cleared his throat and spoke.

Vulcan: "We have decided to launch an attack on the Main Board's main Outposts tomorrow morning. Lilac will fill you in with the details. Star, Raven, Gale, come with me. There are a few preparations to make."

Star, Raven, Gale: "Aye!" As they left, Lilac started addressing the entire army.

Lilac: "Listen all. There are six outposts set around the Main Board's base. These will be our targets."

Vegita: "Why not go directly to the Main Board and toast it?"

Lilac: "Well, instead of having to fight about seventy Androids, we should only have to fight around 30, about five at each outpost. Now, know that once an attack is initiated on an outpost, it will not take long for the Main Board to send reinforcements. That is why we will attack all outposts at once. The Main Board should then send out troups to defend the outposts, since we are counting on the strength provided by Son Goku-san's friends and family. When this happens, and if everything goes well, a last group of Freedom Army warriors will zip past the outposts and attack the remaining Android forces as well as the Main Board itself in the city of Nirg. "

Vegita: "Then I will join that group."

Lilac: "No, Vegita-san, it was decided you would attack Outpost 1..."

Vegita: "NANI? How can I be assigned to such a secondary role!?"

Lilac: "We already anticipated your disapproval, so we thought that once the Outpost you attack has been secured, you may join the team attacking the Main Board itself."

Vegita: "Tch!"

Lilac: "Please, Vegita-san. You are our best hope in destroying Outpost 1..." Using pleading eyes, she hoped to be able to convince Vegita.

Vegita: "..."

Vegita: "Alright, then. I will destroy your Outpost 1 and THEN go beat the hell out of the Main Board's ass! You better get out of the way!"

Gohan (whispering to Goku): "What am I hearing?"

Goku (whispering to Gohan ): "He was always like this as far as I can remember...only not as crude..."

Vegita(to himself): "Gives me more Androids to beat up, why should I complain?"

Lilac: "Okay...!"

Lilac: "We have affected each of you to a particular team." Consulting her electronic agenda, she anounced the members of each team.

Lilac: "Team 1 will be composed of Vegita-san as leader, sister Wolfsbane and Poly. These three will be in charge of attacking Outpost 1."

Lilac: "Team 2, in charge of attacking Outpost 2, will be made up of Lady Lor as leader, DJ, Trunks and DP."

Lilac: "I will act as leader of Team 3. Son Goten-san, Cheesy, Fly and I, will handle Outpost 3. "

Lilac: "In Team 4 will be Son Gohan-san as leader, Blackgammon, Rabbits and Umy. You will attack Outpost 4."

Lilac: "The team in charge of Outpost 5, Team 5, is made up of sister Dandelion as leader, Neo 17-san, Copper and Jibry."

Lilac: "Team 6 will attack Outpost 6 and will be composed of Commander Raven as leader, Commander Gale, Skan and Molly."

Lilac: "Finally, Team Alpha will be composed of General Vulcan as leader, Executive Officer Star, Son Goku-san, Oob-san, Future Trunks-san, sister Snapdragon and Beltor. This team will be in charge of the final attack against the Main Board itself. "

Lilac: "Those who have not been named will stay here and be ready to move the supplies to Carb City. If we fail, this will be the rendez-vous point. Are there any questions?"

Trunks: "Uh...�sorry but, where's Outpost 2?"

Lilac: "Such details will given to you tomorrow. Any further questions?"

Man: "We're attacking Outposts? What are we supposed to do? Secure the Outpost or simply create a diversion for Team Alpha's strike?"

Lilac: "Both, if you can. If we succeed in destroying the Main Board, we don't know how the Androids will react. Will they shut down or stay active, we don't know. So try to take control of the Outpost you are attacking as much as possible. Other questions?"

None spoke.

And so all went to their personal business. Lilac then left through the same passage Vulcan and the others had.

Goku: "Oi! We're taking on the big guys! We'll show them what we can do, right Oob?"

Oob: "Oi!"

Further away, the three other Flowers were conversing.

Snapdragon: "Maybe you should believe in our leader a little more!"

Wolfsbane: "I do believe in him! And in us! The only problem is, we are exactly 35 and they are more than a hundred."

Dandelion: "I think this strategy can make us win. Remember that most of our new members are worth two or three androids all by themselves. We just may have a chance, even if one or two of the Teams is defeated."

Wolfsbane: "Can't wait to see that happen..."

Snapdragon: "With who are you paired?"

Wolfsbane: "Vegita and Poly."

Snapdragon: "Vegita??? What are you afraid of? I have to take on the Main Board!!!"

Wolfsbane: "I'm not afraid for my own self. I'm afraid for everyone else in Freedom Army, like you sister."

Dandelion: "If we are discouraged even before we begin, then there is no hope."

Wolfsbane: "Then let's hope everyone else is more cheerful than I."

Wolfsbane: "...or more stupid..."
